THEMATIC WORKING GROUP

PEACE & SECURITY

Objectives:

Capacity Building (Peer-to-Peer Learning and Knowledge Sharing)

• Organising online interactive training sessions and workshops within the group, focusing on peacebuilding, land governance, and peace-security linkages. (Last year we did one with U.S. Institute of Peace).
• Sharing relevant resources, including readings and online courses.
• Inviting youth experts from within the group to lead thematic sessions on peace and security.

Partnerships & Networking

• Hosting joint events with youth networks such as YOUNGO , and the Global Youth Climate Network, focusing on peace and land justice.
• Conducting monthly polls for members to propose activities and share what they would like to see prioritized.

Advocacy

• Share youth opportunities related to peace, security, and land—such as fellowships, conferences, grants, and training programs—through a monthly opportunities roundup where members can apply or get involved.
• Produce and publish case studies on the intersection of drought, land degradation, and peace and security, contributed by members from different regions. These will be featured on the UNCCD Youth Caucus platform and jointly developed by the Peace & Security Working Group.

Who can join?

Youth between the ages of 18 and 35 who are passionate about the intersection of peace, security, and land.

Whether you come with hands-on experience, academic background, or simply a desire to learn and engage—this space is for you.

You have the time, curiosity, and desire to engage.

We believe in the power of youth ideas, energy, and lived experiences to shape more just, peaceful, and sustainable land futures.
